Executed by internationally renowned master Chief Jimoh Buraimoh, Family is an iconic manifestation of the legendary Osogbo Art Movement. The artwork centers on an elongated, regal figure whose visage, stylized headdress, and geometric collar are realized through meticulously laid glass seed beads. Dynamic geometric partitions—triangles, diamonds, and linear bands—resonate with sacred Yoruba ancestral motifs and ceremonial regalia. The intricate beaded relief is set against a fiery, textured background that transitions from burning amber yellow and crimson to deep indigo, celebrating familial continuity, ancestral lineage, and the enduring resilience of cultural identity.

Artist Statement
My work bridges Yoruba oral tradition and modernist expression through the tactile rhythm of bead painting. By embedding vibrant glass beads and pigment onto board, I transform ancestral folklore, spiritual mythology, and communal life into luminous, textured mosaics that celebrate African identity as a living, enduring narrative.
